Selina.....CatWoman by CoranKizerStone Selina.....CatWoman by CoranKizerStone
I love Frank Miller and Midy Newell’s rendition of the Catwoman, so I sort of pieced them with some thoughts I had. Selina is as a lonely, boring, dry, sarcastic, and very deeply depressed person when the mask is off. I think the depression spawned from the numerous amounts of grief she experienced as a youngling. The Suicide of her Mother and then the Alcoholism and Death of her Father. After that point I think that she’s been hoping to escape those memories by trying to become someone else, someone she is not. So she acted up afterwards and the small time she spent in the orphanage leads to her being placed in a juvenile dentition hall. The hard time she spent there by almost being killed by a money grubbing administrator lead to her getting revenge, stealing money from the Hall and running out of it not to long after. So in old Gotham she decided to be part of a gang of streets thieves lead by a Ruthless leader. The gangs leader wasn’t fair profit wise So she ran away to a life of child prostitution. More and more crap happens after that but I wrote that to wright this..
all these past troubles seemed to have evolved into this street-wise, cunning, seductive, extremely tuff, sneaky, masked anti-heroin we know as CatWoman. So In a way it was the Death of her parents that gave birth to the life of Catwoman. I believe she’s mentally comfortable in the dark tights aswell. This is what she is because it’s all she knows. My thoughts on Ms.Kyle what’s yours?

Oh yeah Selina’s mother had a deep fascination with cats as well.
My Selina cares for cats but loved her mother so much
that she draped herself in what she loved most...The catsuit was the result !hehe!

How ironic. It reminds me of the original Selina in comics. She was a person who would misguide gullible people into helping her, but robbing, while disguised as a helpless old lady, and yet she is still a person who would misguide gullible into helping her, through the means of seduction.

Only the methods changed, but the character is still the same.

This has to be my favorite Catwoman personality(s).
Selina always came off as one of Batman's few sane enemies.
But, your's seems to dance right on the edge of insane.
I, also, like how she is diminutive as a civilian.
In most media she make men faint by twirling her hair.

Eh. I'm used to the "intelligent lady turned thief who may stop to save someone's life" angle, but I like this one too. I like to keep these things open to different interpretations. :)

The artwork is good but the Selina is...wrong?
The Catwoman I grew up with was intelligent, seductive, independent, morally gray with dark black hair, deep green eyes, olive skin tone, all of this being seen in both egos) and a skintight purple leather costume, hold the goggles. Add in a bullwhip and some claws hidden in the tips of her claws. She would just as much save a kid from a burning building as she would swipe the Hope diamond and her encounters with the Bat were...electrifying to say the least.

I believe F. Mill er and his like ruined the character... If you want a taste ogf what I think Selina and Catwoman should be protrayed as look up the artist Chris Dee on dA or go to her fanfiction webssite Catwoman--CatTales.com. I promise it will be worth your time.

However, my personal opinions aside, I really do ike this piece of artwork. You took an idea and you ran with it and yetr it's thought out. You showed two different sides of the same coin in such a way that if I saw your Selina on the streets I wouldn't believe she was your Catwoman. And isn't that what sdonning a mask al about. I also like the color skin, it's all from the same palatte and it isn't as big of a leapt as the Barry Allen/Flash identities as you protray themm.

All in all, if I wasn't biased as I am, I would say this's a fairly decent view of the character.

I suppose, in some ways, it's because Batman and his characters are meant to show the hidden side of what people are, what they want. Bruce always blamed himself for his parent's death, and his weakness, so his hidden heroic self is capable of taking down superhumans, and will always be there to save people and do the right thing. Selina here has had a hard life, with bad luck. She was poor, destitute, and the end result is a tired and deeply depressed woman. But nobody WANTS to be that. Catwoman is, in many ways, the opposite of her daytime persona. She's a rich, successful, powerful figure that is trod on by no-one; not even Batman.

Hmm! This makes me want to know so much more! Selina has always been a difficult character to me -- it's difficult for me to reconcile her cruelty with someone I want to know more about -- but the idea of her being honestly depressed and somewhat *trapped* in problematic emotional issues... yeah, that makes a *lot* of sense.

And the art you have of her there is chillingly *bleak*.

Interesting .
I like the dichotomy between the drab Selina and the vivacious Catwoman.

They tried that with Michelle Pfeiffer in 'Batman Returns', but it's hard to make Michelle Pfeiffer look drab.

Wonderful insight into the character. I'm working on writing a novel about her past and mind you it will be changing a bit but I am fallowing basic guide lines. I had this idea of, what if before she was Catwoman, she was someone else entirely. My friend Nikki and I co-created the character of Tallulah Weir, who is pre-catwoman "Selina Kyle", a name she picks up latter. She took the last name, Kyle, because it was her mother's maiden name, which is her connection to her mother, who she looks a lot like and is often mistaken for by her very drunk father. I'm hoping to also touch on the side of Selina that you don't often see, the side of her that was a mother and a sister, both biologically and not.

This is great - I really like the Catwoman design.

The concept puts me in mind of the Batman Returns Catwoman - Selina could hardly finish a sentence when with Bruce Wayne (much like Wayne himself), but when the mask came on - look out!

I like her better the activist/kleptomaniac socialite from the animated series. She's the quintessential good girl who can't help being bad. She starts out working for a good cause but goes about it the wrong way, forcing Batman to reject her despite their mutual feelings for eachother and the fact that she is one of the few villains who isn't insane or acting out pure malice or vengence, which helps to reaffirm Batman's faith in humanity. But she just can't get over the thrill of the criminal life. She tries, mostly out of love for Batman, and is always willing to lend a hand for a greater cause but in the end she can't get over her addiction to thievery, letting down Batman, and herself.

Gah!!

From the thumbnail, i thought you drew Salina as an old woman!
Her fluffy coat part looked like hair...

I think Catwoman's suit should've be more--shiny? You know, material that reflects more light.
I think by doing so it'll give more contrast to "boring and dull" Salina to "fancy and seductive" Catwoman...

Anyway, good job on this pic!
